Chimney After Explosion
This Multi-flue chimney exploded due to an improper liner installation. The hazardous creosote was never removed before the undersized liner was slipped in.

The cause of this chimney's fate was a liner that was installed without first removing the hazardous creosote. The liner was also too small to properly vent the fireplace.
Inside the Firebox
Looking up from the firebox, heavy creosote deposits were left in the throat area which ignited and caused severe damage.
Prepping Inside Work Area
The work area is prepped so we can keep the carpets, furniture, and etc. clean.
Sealed Firebox
The firebox is sealed off to control dust.
Removing the Old Liner
Removing the old, undersized stainless steel liner exposed creosote inside the flue tile that should have been removed before installation.
Tearing Down the Old Chimney
Outside, the portion of the chimney extending above the garage roof is torn down. The left side of the chimney is used as a raceway for the HVAC duct.
Rebuilding Chimney
The chimeny is then rebuilt.
Separating the Flue Systems
This is a multi-flue chimney. So, a divider wall is built to separte the furnace and fireplace sytems.
Ventinox Liners
Once the chimney is rebuilt to its originial height, the stainless steel Ventinox liners are installed.

Thermix Added Around Liners
Thermix insulation is mixed with water and poured in to insulate the liners and help strengthen the chimney.
Flue Tiles
Flue tile sections are set at the top to enhance the appearance of the chimney.
Almost Finished
The area to the right is being used as a raceway for the HVAC ductwork.
Cap and Crown

The job is finished with new roof flashing.
